I just wanted to watch Gilmore Girls!

So this is my third day at home sick. Can I tell you on the BILLION channels we have there is practically nothing on television?!?! So today, I decided I100_3597 would pop in the Gilmore Girls. I like the Gilmore Girls. They make me happy, and after two, going on three days of not being happy at home, I decided I deserved some happy in my life. (Aside from Happy Gilmore, which might I add I watched 100_3594yesterday). So here is my dilemma. I got Devin a Blu-Ray player for Christmas. It took/takes me forever to figure out how the thing works because we have a hundred remotes. Ok, so it’s only five, but that’s a lot. So there is the (from Left to Right) the Blu- Ray remote, the XBox 360 Remote, the TV remote, the Little remote (it changes the TV from TV mode to video game 100_3598mode) and the Baby remote (it’s suppose to change the TV from TV mode to Blu-Ray mode). So I do know that I have to press 4 on the Baby remote to change the TV to Blu-Ray mode. Yeah, that didn’t work. So I texted Devin. He didn’t know either. I then pressed 5 on the Baby remote to 100_3596make it go back to TV mode, that actually worked. So I spent money on this Blu-Ray thing for Devin because from what I understand it’s sooooo much better than plain ole DVD players. Yeah, well, call me old fashioned but I can get that DVD player to work! After 20 minutes of pressing a combination of numbers on the Baby remote  I gave up and resorted to the XBox. Not the XBox HD player, the XBox. What’s my problem? (That was a rhetorical question and comments need not be made! Bradley and Dustin!) All of this rubbish because I wanted to watch Gilmore Girls instead of the crap that’s on cable. What happen to the days when you popped in a VHS and just hit play? That’s it, play. No Little remote, no Baby remote. No pressing 4 for video mode, just channel 3 or 4, and play. Now that I’ve got the DVD playing I’m going to enjoy some Matt Czuchry eye candy. :-)

Sick of being Sick

My weekend went pretty well, it was Monday that things starting going downhill. Friday night I went out to dinner with my family. They do this every Friday, I don’t always get to join, so it was, well, interesting as always. If you know my family, you understand. Saturday was a lazy morning then I headed to Ashley’s to pick up Anekah for the afternoon and take her to Lilly’s 1st birthday party. Ashley was sick it was a plus for her to have Anekah out of the house for a while. Chris had given her a bottle of milk just as we left and she finished it in the car. I no more got her out of the car and she threw the entire thing all over Raechel’s driveway. Better the driveway than Raechel’s house, or my car. ::cringe:: After the driveway incident Anekah was fine. We went inside and she played and we all had a good time. Four hours later I brought Anekah back to her sickly mother. Sunday I felt a little queasy, I thought I had gotten what Ashley had. Luckily it passed and Devin and I enjoyed a yummy lunch at Sweet Tomatoes. So the weekend came and went and Monday rolled around, like it always does, even though I pray regularly that it won’t. (I need more people praying for that, so you wanna jump on board please?) Raechel even sent me a text asking how I was feeling, because apparently there was a bug and everyone from Lilly’s parties, including Lilly, got sick. No wonder I felt like crap all day Monday. I looked it too. Now I know what you’re thinking. It was in my head, I looked fine. Usually that’s the case, but I had at least TEN customers tell me I looked terrible, awful, sick, pale, red, tired, and a variety of other unflattering things. I managed to make it though the day and keep down my grilled snack wrap from McDonalds (I LOVE those things and HIGHLY recommend them). I passed out immediately on the couch when I got home at 5:00 and didn’t wake up until Devin was finished making dinner and placing in a TV tray of food in front of me at 6:45. He’s so sweet. It was too bad that I couldn’t eat any of it. I went to bed at 8:00 and didn’t wake up until 11:00 Tuesday morning. Went to the doctor and was told I could have strep and to say home tomorrow (which is today) too. So I’ve been at home for two days, have felt like crap, and am going insane being in the house, and still don’t feel any better. I’ve been living on Jello, spaghettio’s, bananas, and soup for two days and could really got for a Five Guys burger and fries. Maybe tomorrow evening or Friday. =( The End.

Seriously Paul?

A few months ago we went to a party where there was this really good Paul Newman’s Pineapple Salsa Dip. It was really good, so for the Super Bowl party we had at our house I decided to get some. As we are all digging i100_3588nto the pizza, wings, cookies and salsa my cousin made a comment about the salsa and how good it was. She picked the jar to look at it and said, “um, Erin, when did you buy this?” My response was very hesitant, “This afternoon, why…?” It had expired MONTHS AGO! We were al appalled but had eaten so much of it without noticing a strange taste that we decided there was nothing wrong with it and continued to eat it. Well, a couple weeks ago I wanted it again, so I got it, and the Mango kind for Devin to try. Again, my cousin got home and saw it. She asked “wasn’t this the stuff that was expired before?” Surely it couldn’t happen twice. In a row. She looked for the date which read, 07/07/08. Yes the salsa dip I bought was expired SEVEN MONTHS BEFORE I BOUGHT IT! The moral of the story is, that Paul Newman’s stuff apparently died with him. (Yes, I know how wrong that was, and no I don’t really care. I bought expired salsa TWICE!)

I need more inspiration

So in the desperate need for more blogging material, I considered myself tagged, Angela. (Even though I didn’t do the one that you actually  tagged me for!)

1. Did you date someone from your High School? Funny story… without mentioning any names, we were together for about a month one summer. He’s still a very good friend and we see each other on a fairly regular basis. We were at each others weddings, and if that isn’t strange enough for you, his wife has become someone very dear to me, I love her lots! =)

2. Did you marry someone from your High School? Sure did! At the time we were in high school together though, he always had a girlfriend and I dated one of his best friends (see #1). It wasn’t until after I graduated high school that we got together. But Devin is most definitely the love of my life.

3. Did you carpool to school? Yes. My freshman year, to Clay High, I rode with a friend and her sister for a few months, then I gave it up for the bus. My junior year, to Ridgeview High, I rode with my cousins. Then my senior year, to FCCS, I drove 30 minutes all by my lonesome.

4. What kind of car did you have? The VERY FIRST, was a ‘96 green Aerostar, God help me. I got picked on hard core for that one, until everyone wanted to go someplace all in one car. Then I got my first love, my ‘98 blue Honda Civic, RIP. Mommy then decided I needed a safe car and cosigned for the ‘00 gold Saturn L100. BLAH!!!!

5. What kind of car do you have now? TODAY I own a new love. Still a Honda, an ‘08 Accord. Seriously I love this car.

6. It's Saturday night now you're....sleeping, or at a friends house playing some sort of game.

7. It is Saturday night then you're....out late, until early hours of Sunday morning, most likely toilet papering someone’s house or car. =)

8. What kind of job did you have in high school? One job, I loved working at Seafood Kitchen (also RIP).

9. What kind of job do you have now? Teller Manager at a bank

10. Were you a party animal? Only if you consider toilet paper ramp aids at 2 AM on Sunday mornings before church partying.

11. Were you considered a flirt? I don’t think so.

12. Were you in a band, orchestra, or choir? haha, no. Not at any of the schools.

13. Were you a nerd? Yeah, probably, but I didn’t care though, I didn’t like school that much, I spent my time at church. So I guess judging by that statement, yes.

14. Did you get suspended or expelled? yeah, no. Quite the opposite, my senior year (private school) I made the no demerit list =)

15. Can you sing the fight song? do high schools have fight songs?

16. Who was/were your favorite teacher(s)? at Clay it was Mrs. Reiley (English), at Ridgeview it was Mrs. Slater (also English) or Mrs. G (computer something something) and FCCS, Mrs. Callahan (English again). I wonder why I want to be an English teacher?

17. Where did you sit during lunch? at Clay with girls from my English class, at Ridgeview, “the boys” in the courtyard or some random table where lunch trays got thrown away, and FCCS in the itty bitty cafeteria.

18. What was your schools full name? Which one?

19. When did you graduate? May 16, 2003

20. What was your school mascot? a Blue Devil, a Panther, and then a Challenger (which five years later apparently has been changed to a Knight, ironically enough).

21. If you could go back and do it again, would you? yeah, not a chance.

22. Did you have fun at Prom? junior year -considering I almost lost by best friend because of it, not so much. Senior year- there was no prom, it was a homecoming which was also a miserable experience (even though I was on the homecoming committee) that I only did because it was my senior year but definitely could have done without.

23. Do you still talk to the person you went to prom with? Unfortunately not really anymore, he was my best friend growing up too.

24. Are you planning on going to your next reunion? eh, we’ll see, it’s a possibility.

25. Do you still talk to people from school? Clay, not a chance, Ridgeview, several, FCCS, a couple on occasion and one very regularly.

26. School colors? Clay, blue and white, Ridgeview, Blue and Black (or silver or something like that) and FCCS, Blue and White. What are the odds that I attend three different high schools and the colors are all the same? Seriously? There are more colors in the universe!

Time Flies

Two years ago I watched one of my best friends walk down the isle and marry a wonderful man. Almost a year to the day later I was there when she had her first baby. I have been so blessed to have these wonderful people in my life. Happy Anniversary Raechel and Danny, Happy Birthday Lilly.

Digging deep

So as previously stated (several weeks ago) I’ve been tapped out for blog topics. Nothing really “blog worthy” has happened. I can think of plenty of things that I could have blogged about, if I had been doing it like a year ago. So, there is a good possibility I will be going to those stories. But today here is what I really had to dig for.

Anyone who knows me, know that I’m slightly OCD. (Yes, Angela, slightly.) Anyway, a typical trip to the grocery store ends with Devin bringing in the bags and me putting them away (because I would only move what he put away anyway). Over the weekend Angela and I were discussing all the expired or at least questionable food that is in our houses. (OH YEAH! That’s what I was going to blog about! A later date perhaps) So as I was putting the groceries away I decided to throw out anything that was “questionable” or just plain out expired. I’m so ashamed of everything that got thrown out but so proud of the end result! We’ll see how long it actually lasts.

Top Shelf: Junk food (harder to reach)

Second Shelf: Soups, Fruits, Veggies (and Peanut Butter)

Third Shelf: Hamburger Helper/Main dishes, and side dishes

Sides Shelves: baggies, coffee, new condiments (awaiting the move to the fridge) cooking oils and plastic wraps and tin foil.

Floor: Lunch bags, Publix Bags, Spaghetti Sauce

Amazing Grace

There are no words.
