Someone Make the Decision for Me!

I really just wanted to vent about how annoyed I was by all the Census advertising stuff, not be told that it’s important for this-that-and-the-other. (Sorry Crystal and Angela). Yes I know the Census is important. Yes, I know there are people out there who despite all the advertising won’t fill it out and send it back. And YES I already sent mine back. So I decided it was time for something a little lighter.

As I was readying my pastors blog I came across this fun little flow chart. Seriously, this should have been hung on the back wall in my office for the last, oh say, four years or so! I can’t tell you how many times after lunch I’d sit at my desk and tell my tellers, “I want candy. But I don’t know what kind.” Well, this would have solved my problem!

If I didn’t do the link correctly and clicking on the picture doesn’t make it bigger, it’s easy to read on David’s Blog.

Who wants candy now? :)

Maybe I Don’t WANT To Send It Back!

Can I tell you how sick I am of hearing about the Census? Every time I see another commercial or get another letter in the mail, it makes me NOT want to sent it back EVEN MORE!

First, we see how many stupid commercials about taking a picture of everyone in America, “the snapshot of America” leading up to the Super Bowl? Then some $2.5- $3 million for a 30 second Super Bowl spot. Then MORE commercials explaining that “in mid-March you should receive the 2010 census” and “we can’t move forward, until you mail it back.” Blah blah blah… So almost mid-March I receive a letter in the mail with the 2010 Census logo on it. Surely it’s the all-important census, right? WRONG! No! It’s a letter telling me that in a couple weeks I’m going to receive the 2010 Census and it’s important that I fill it out and send it back as soon as possible. Finally, mid-March, and WAY TOO MANY commercials later I received the much anticipated 2010 US Census in the mail. It took all of 10 minutes to tell them how old the three people in my household are, that we only live here, and that we are not of Hispanic descent. I’m still tired of the commercials, and annoyed that SO MUCH MONEY seems to have been WASTED on this census. A day or so ago, we got a postcard in the mail reading something to the effect of “by now you should have received your 2010 Census….”

OH! MY! WORD! SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!?

GP are you with me?

Collin and the iPhone

Bradley will be so proud that Collin already knows how to use an iPhone :) He reaches for it whenever it’s near, regardless if I’m on it or not. This last week, while Devin was in Orlando. He called one afternoon while Collin was napping. As I was talking to him Collin started waking up, so I went into his room. He was too cute just laying in his crib “ooo” and “ahhh”-ing. So I set the phone down next to him and put it on speaker. Devin talked to him, and he “talked” back. It was A-DOR-A-BLE!

The One With Erin’s Sandwich

It was MY SANDWICH! It didn’t have a moist-maker or anything, but it was MY SANDWICH!

So I made myself a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch, poured a glass of milk and brought it to the living room to eat while I watch Desperate Housewives. Just as I was about to sit down Collin started to wake up from his nap. I sat down the sandwich and glass of milk and walked to get Collin. As we walked out of his room I saw Carly, not on her bed, where she belongs. Yes. I came down the hall just in time to see Carly finishing my entire sandwich!

Because Carly ate my first sandwich, I obviously had to make a second sandwich. Ugh… I love my dog and all but geez, it was my sandwich!

4 Months 10 Pounds and 5 Inches Later

My little man is getting so big! I can’t believe he’s 10 pounds and 5 inches bigger than he was when he was born! The last four months have been absolutely amazing! I love Collin more and more every day! I didn’t know that I could love someone so much. He’s my world. Everyday is something new.

He rolled over several weeks ago for the CIMG2901first time and hasn’t really stopped since. We stopped swaddling him at night and he sleeps so much better. I actually get a real nights sleep! When I go in to check on him though he is all  over his crib. Sometimes he’s on his tummy, sometimes he’s managed to wedge himself right up against the bumpers. As long as he keeps sleeping for 6-8 hours at a time, he can wiggle and roll all he wants to!

CIMG2824He talks all.the.time. He lets me know that he’s unhappy. Generally, when I leave the room or just get out of his line of sight. I LOVE  his giggle. I can’t get enough of it. If he can hold onto it, it will go into his mouth. I have this unsettling feeling that he’s teething and it’s going to happen soon. His gums have white spots and he chomps on my finger pretty hard. That’s not something that I’m looking forward to. At all.

His newest thing is his obsession with his knees  and feet. Just like in his 4 month scale picture he always grabs onto his knees and feet now. It’s so cute! Unless I’m trying to change him, in which case it’s still cute, but more  annoying.

Walk1My sister-in-law let me borrow a few of her baby slings. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s not getting them back because I LOVE THEM! And so does Collin. It’s so much easier to take him to the grocery store, target, on a  walk or to the Honda dealership. I can actually do my shopping without rushing because Collin’s not happy he’s not moving. When he’s in the sling he close and cuddling with me and is always moving. He loves looking around at all the new stuff he sees. I had to take the Civic to the dealership one day and Collin fell asleep in the sling. So I just sat at one of their tables and played on my iPhone while I waited.

We always had it in our heads that we wanted to wait until Collin as 6 months old before we started him on solid foods. A few weeks ago he got sick and then we went to Orlando and for two weeks straight he didn’t sleep well. At all. Everyone had told me the minutes they started their kids on rice cereal CIMG2840they slept much better. And the doctor said we could start him anytime we  were ready. So we thought we’d give it a shot. He took it pretty well. He’s had plain rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes, and peas. And LOVE all of it. I did not, however, love that he didn’t poop for several days and then have the grossest diaper  ever when he finally did go. I don’t know if we’ll keep doing it (not because of the diaper situation!), I want to see if he can sleep though the night without it and hold out another month or so.

CIMG2939Collin still does his tummy time, but in addition to that we’ve been working on getting him to sit up by himself. He's done really well, considering we’ve only been doing it for a week. He get’s so proud of himself when he realizes what he’s doing. And on that note, I’ll leave you with some of the cutest pictures ever. (well, since my last post anyway =) )
