Something new

So since we made the updates on the chandelier and we bought the crib and changing table off Craig’s List, I was inspired to try and sell our ugly chandelier we preplaced. I posted it a few days ago, not thinking I would get any response, but I got a job offer, apparently. My post was very simple and vague. Something to the effect of glass chandelier with gold trim light bulbs included. Then I included the pictures of the light on and off, just like before. So tell me why I should get a response like this:

I saw your ad on craigslist do you still need a job? I may have
something for you...let me know

No, I have a job. Thanks. Is that what I can expect when I try to sell my old crap on Craig’s List? If it is, I already get enough junk mail!

FOUND: Convertible Crib

So last week I put out a cry for help, and Angela answered! She apparently was bored at work one day and found about eleventy-billion posts on Craig’s List. Well, since I couldn't’ find the Da Vinci one that I really really wanted, I fell in love with the next best thing. It’s a Sorelle Vicki, I know, whatever that means. We picked it up Sunday after church and put it almost together Sunday night. The couple that we bought it from apparently liked it so much, they had two. One for each kid. Well, when we went to put the last piece on, the holes wouldn’t line up. So we are thinking that we got the front to the other crib. I’m waiting to hear back from her husband later tonight. But in the mean time, these are the pictures that she sent me of what it will hopefully look like when it’s all together. We got the crib and mattress and the changing table/dresser.

WANTED: Convertible Crib. Can you help?

If you are AT ALL savvy on eBay, Craigslist, Amazon, or any other “buy it cheap site” I need your help! I’m on the look out for a

DaVinci Kalani 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Crib in Honey Oak

It wouldn’t hurt if you could find the rest of the Kalani collection either! :) I haven’t been able to find it for less that $309 or actually $308.99 and I’m sure that it’s out there somewhere.

How many people does it take?

Recently Devin and I have been making some minor adjustments to the house. We did a lot of the major stuff since we first moved in: removing wallpaper, painting every square inch of every wall, new furniture, new hardwood floors, new fence, and a new dishwasher. Within the last few months we’ve been talking more about doing some other stuff: (maybe that’s part of the nesting process?) a new roof, new siding, new carpeting in the bedrooms, new outside plants, new dining room set and new bedroom furniture. Since most of that is on the expensive side we’ve opted to do some smaller stuff. Pretty much every Sunday afternoon after church Devin has been in the yard digging up the plants that I really don’t like and transplant the ones I do like. Two weeks ago, we had a slight accident when we struck the water main and our front yard flooded. Now that the yard has finally dried out, we now have mulch and are going to attempt it to look pretty. We’ll see how that goes.

Oh yeah, the main reason for this post. The minor adjustments. In addition to the yard work we’ve upgraded some lighting fixtures. The chandelier over the dining room table and the light in the kitchen. It all started with the chandelier. This was the original that came with the house when we bought it three years ago:

Not very, “Erin” if you know what I mean. So in the quest that started for a new fan in the living room we found the chandelier we liked and was much more, not only “Erin” but “Us.”

Before you go and think, “wow, Erin and Devin did that?” HAHA sorta! I assembled it, but Devin suckered Daniel into helping install it, and thus began that joke, “how many people does it take to change a light bulb?” Answer: three :) Two to hang and and me, to make smart comments and take pictures! DUH!

So yay, we got a new light fixture. A few days later, if it was even a few days, the kitchen light went dim. So Devin tinkered with it to see what kind of light we needed to replace it. Well, in the process something happened and it was determined that we needed a whole new light fixture. Seriously was not the plan. But I was tired of looking at lights so I sent Devin and he came back with something that I really liked. A lot. But again, the question arose, how many people does it take to change a light bulb? This time it was more complicated and took more people. I think it was a total of 5. Two to change, one to hold the flashlight, one to trip the circuit breaker multiple times, and me, to make smart comments and take pictures! Since it was so impromptu I didn’t get a picture of the old light, trust me when I say, ugly industrial was the way to describe it.

What the heck, as long as I’m at it… we got a $200 rug from Kohl’s for like $80. We found it on a Friday, and was informed that a Sale would be starting Saturday. So that was 40% off, then I had a Kohl’s card that game us 35% off when we spend more than $100. Therefore we got the 5x8 rug really cheap! So here it is:

Maybe the title of this blog should have been “Home Improvements” instead, oh well, Daniel knew what it was going to be about when he read the title anyway :)

It’s a….

BOY!!!

We had our sonogram today! It was so cool! Collin was moving around like crazy. In addition to the still pictures, we got to take home a DVD of the whole thing too, all 15 minutes of it! Bradley was kind enough to edit it down to just about 2 1/2 minutes to highlight everything. We got to hear and see the heartbeat. Just before the “big reveal” the girl poked on my belly to try to get Collin to move in a different way. It’s kinda funny to see :) I absolutely love this video.

Devin is excited that he’s not going to be the only boy in the house anymore :) He’s been a little outnumbered for the last four years, me, three cats, and the dog.

Week 19e

BOTH camera batteries were dead for the last week, and I had issues finding the chargers from when we went to Atlanta. So, here is baby Collin at 19 weeks :) Week 19a

All Alone

Devin is out of town for SQL Saturday Pensacola. That means that I am home alone. I have quickly remembered how much I do not enjoy being home alone. Those long Blockbuster nights and long Department of Correction weeks. No, I do not miss Devin’s traveling days at all. I can’t wait for him to get back. I miss him and he’s only been gone like six hours (five of which I was a work!).

HA! That’s what you get, JERK!

I’m driving home from yet another long day of work and as I’m sitting at the ever-so-long Blanding and Argyle this major DB in a really nice BMW pulled up next to me. He’s had the windows rolled down, was talking on his cell and smoking a cigarette.  Once on Argyle and picking up speed, the BMW DB flips his cigarette out the front window and… it flew right back into the back seat through the back window! Oh that’s not the best part, no no, the best part is that he didn’t notice!!! He continued down Argyle like he was God’s gift to the world, totally oblivious to the fact that he had lit cigarette burning away in his back seat. I’m pretty sure that’s why cars come with ashtrays! HA! That’s what you get, JERK!

I’m Alright

No matter what a crappy day I’ve had at work, or anywhere for that matter, singing this song at the top of my lungs in the car with the sunroof open always makes me feel better.

Some say life is hard
Like swimming upstream
or going against the grain
But I say life ain't that hard
'Cause I've seen how
the joy outweighs the pain
So you can sit and whine
about the times you've been having
Oh but as for me I choose to be
as happy as I can be

(Chorus)
Because I'm Alright
Trouble may find me
but it's not gonna keep me down
'Cause I'll hold on tight
To the Father who loves me
and likes having me around
'Cause He loves me, and He cares for me,
And so I'll be alright

We go round and round
Back and forth and almost upside down
To buy who we are -
A great big house, nice jeans, and a shiny car
But I'm learning that this world keeps turning
with or without me
So I'll do my best and leave the rest
to the one watching over me

Because I'm Alright
Trouble may find me
but it's not gonna keep me down
'Cause I'll hold on tight
To the Father who loves me
and likes having me around
'Cause He loves me, and He cares for me,
And so I'll be alright

But I'm learning that this world keeps turning
with or without me
So I'll do my best and leave the rest
to the one watching over me.

Because I'm Alright
Trouble may find me
but it's not gonna keep me down
'Cause I'll hold on tight
To the Father who loves me
and likes having me around
'Cause He loves me, and He cares for me,
And so I'll be alright

FFH – I’m Alright
